Not For Cowards

NotForCowards NotForCowards-detail

Do you know Lizzy Love from Oddball Art Co? She makes the most wonderful mixed media artworks. You can find several movies by her on Youtube. The cool part is, recently she’s selling digistamps in her Etsy shop. She also has a group on Facebook.

This page took about a year to come to complete. Not because it was all that hard or that much work. No, it started as an experiment, as I wanted to try my (at the time) new Dylusions colours (including the white one) and a new stencil from TCW. I added some prints with background stamps and for the moment that was it. Experiment succeeded, but the page asked for a cool finish and I just couldn’t come up an idea. So I left it as it was and went on with other pages.

Until last Friday, when I bought myself two colours of acrylic ink. I needed to experiment with those too! From what I saw on Youtube, these are the master of drippage. I went through my journal and found this page. It already started as an experment, so it could take some more experimenting. Now the page got an even more graffiti look than it already had. Some stamping with bubblewrap. It became somewhat darkish, so I added some white circles. Then I knew for sure. This needed a very cool picture. I didn’t want to leave the page for another year, was very much in the mood of creating, so I started thinking very carefully what I could add to this.

That’s where Lizzy came in. Her digistamps would be perfect for what I had in mind. I hurried to her Etsy shop and yay! I had to control of myself in order not to buy every single bit! I printed the stamp on regular printing paper. After that, I gave it a layer of fixative (I found that this avoids the printer ink to run when it comes into contact with something liquid). I cut it out, adhered it with Decoupage and coloured it with acrylic paints. I was very happy I also bought a couple of very skinny brushes Friday. These came in very handy! I added some more accents to the page and grabbed a suitable quote from Pinterest. The text really suits me and also the problems I find in mental health care at the moment. Those who don’t want to try and understand my problems, call me too complicated bla bla… This is the perfect answer!

Hartelijk bedankt voor je bezoek! Hopelijk tot ziens!
Thank you very much for visiting! Hope to see you back soon!

WOW! I love this page even more after reading your blog about it, what a cool story, I honestly thought you must have meticulously planned every detail, its so cool that it all started as experiments! :)
