Little Book Of Christmas

I know it’s still early and some of you don’t want to think about Christmas yet, but I had a good reason to dive into my Christmas stuff. There are people in this world who already are exited about that time of year coming. And last week I was making a surprise gift for one of them. Of course this idea came up in my mind close before I needed the present, so I had to think of something that didn’t take more than a day to make. This cute little Christmas album is quite easy to make and the time it takes, depends on how crazy you go with embellishing.

Because of the lack of time I didn’t think of filming the process, but a tutorial has already been requested, so I’m planning to do a how-to video on a similar album. Maybe even another Christmas themed one.

For this album I used up an old paper collection by My Minds Eye. I so wish I had more of this. I think I will buy “Mistletoe Kisses” by Simple Stories this year. I just love the non traditional colours. Better make up my mind fast, because these Christmas collections are always gone long before I get in the Christmas mood. Good thing I was challenged to dig into my Christmas stuff early this year.

A Bear In Springtime

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done some scrapbooking, apart from the December Daily which was never finished (again). Today I can show you a project I did finish. It’s called “A Bear in Springtime”.

The idea came from a tiny bear someone handmade, together with a new lens for my camera: playtime!

At first it was just a funny photo project on it’s own. I took the little bear with me, while I went out photographing some spring flowers.

It was fun to come up with different compositions that featured the bear.

From photos with flowers I took the challenge to the next level: the beach. I didn’t bring anything but the bear with me, so I positioned it in the sand.

Another day I went back to the beach, but brought some additional stuff with me. I knew exactly what I wanted.

Having all these fun photos, I decided to make a mini album. It was great project!

December Daily and a Christmas rose

Yes. This is another attempt to do a December Daily. For the month of December I will (try) scrapbook one page a day. I will try to take as many (festive) photos as I can and incorporate them in my December album. I did one two years ago, which hopelessly failed. I still have to finish it.
Of course I already run behind. I didn’t expect anything else from me. I am a bit chaotic. I have done day one and two.
I’m working with the “Claus & Co.” collection by Simple Stories. I must admit, this collection is not working for me. I have a hard time putting things together. It’s like I don’t know how to scrap at all.

Ja. Dit is een nieuwe poging om een December Daily te doen. De hele maand december zal ik (proberen) een pagina per dag te scrappen. Ik probeer zoveel mogelijk (feestelijke) foto’s te maken en die in het album te verwerken. Twee jaar geleden heb ik ook een December Daily gedaan, maar dat is hopeloos gefaald. Die heb ik nog steeds niet af.
Natuurlijk loop ik ook nu alweer achter. Ik had niet anders van mezelf verwacht. Ik ben een beetje chaotisch.Ik heb dag één en twee gedaan.
Ik werk met de collectie “Claus & Co.” van Simple Stories. Ik moet toegeven dat deze collectie niet voor me werkt. Ik worstel om de pagina’s in elkaar te zetten. Het is net of ik echt totaal niet weet hoe ik moet scrappen.

To add some Christmas spirit to my house, I bought a sweet little Christmas rose. I’m embarressed to tell it’s already dying. I am such hopeless a gardner. Poor rose.

Om een beetje kerstsfeer in huis te halen, heb ik een schattig kerstroosje gekocht. Ik schaam me dat ik moet vertellen dat hij al aan het overlijden is. Ik heb echt geen groene vingers. Arm roosje.

December Daily: 21, 23 & 24

Het is mij niet ontgaan dat het inmiddels geen december meer is, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat het project van de December Daily al klaar is. Sterker nog, ik ben bang dat het weleens zomer kan zijn tegen de tijd dat ik klaar ben. Zoals bekend, gaat mijn werkproces nogal langzaam en als daar dan ook nog eens gezondheidsproblemen bij komen, ga ik echt met het tempo van een slak. Deze pagina’s had ik echter wel nog in december gemaakt.

I haven’t missed the fact it’s not December anymore, but that doesn’t mean the project December Daily has already been finished. As a matter of fact, I’m afraid it could take untill summer for me to finish this. As known, my working process is very slow and if my health issues come into play, I’m really moving at the speed of a snail. However, these pages I did make in December.

 

Ik heb gemerkt dat ik zonder foto’s erg geneigd ben om vooral de stijl van art journaling op te gaan. De afgelopen tijd heb ik me dus vooral geconcentreerd op het uitzoeken en bewerken van foto’s. Zodra die besteld en in huis zijn, kan ik me meer toespitsen op het scrappen. Dit album zou immers een mix worden met van alles wat.

I’ve noticed that without pictures I tend to go mainly in the direction of the style of art journaling. So past few weeks I’ve mainly focused on choosing and post-processing photos. As soon as these are ordered and delivered, I can concentrate more on scrapping. This album was supposed to be a mix of all kinds.

Warm Hugs

Toen ik het mini album van Lean de Ruiter zag, samen met de o zo schattige foto’s van haar hond, wist ik meteen dat ik ook zoiets wilde maken. Ik bofte, want er was door Scrapdelight een workshop pakket van gemaakt. Dit boekje was compleet buiten mijn comfortabele zone. Ik maak normaal nooit romantische of vintage creaties, hoewel ik er al jaren interesse in heb, puur vanwege de leuke technieken.

When I saw the mini album by Lean de Ruiter, together with the so very cute photos of her dog, I knew at once that I wanted to make something like this too. I was lucky, because Scrapdelight had made it into a workshop kit. This booklet was totally outside my comfort zone. Normally I never make romantic or vintage creations, though I am interested in it for yours, purely because of the nice techniques.

December Daily: 7th December

Op 7 december heb ik een serie ATC-kaartjes gemaakt. Eentje daarvan heb ik gebruikt voor de pagina in mijn December Daily.

At 7th December I made a series of ATC-cards. I used one of them for a page in my December Daily.

December Daily: 4th December

Zoals ik op deze pagina schreef, was het een zware dag en ik had echt behoefte om iets liefs, iets zoets te maken. Dus dat heb ik gedaan. Het paard is een linoleumsnede die ik heb gemaakt. Ik heb hem met zwarte Stazon inkt gestempeld op een witte correspondentiekaart (ideale ondergrond voor stempels). Daarna heb ik hem ingekleurd met aquarelverf. Ik heb er een twinkelend effect aan gegeven door gebruik te maken van iridescent medium (dé manier om het effect van de Twinkling H20’s te kopiëren). Toen hij droog was, heb ik hem uitgeknipt met een smalle rand om de afbeelding. Ik heb papier van Magnolia gebruikt om mijn layout te maken, uitgaand van de plaats waar ik mijn paard wilde. Het vogeltje en de rozen zijn die-cuts van hetzelfde papierblok. Aangezien ik deze maand wil documenteren, heb ik vrij geschreven over hoe mijn dag was en hoe ik ertoe kwam om deze pagina te maken.

Like I wrote on this page, that was one rough day and I really needed to create something sweet. And so I did. The horse is a lino-cut made by me. I stamped it with black Stazon ink on a white notecard, then coloured it with watercolours and made it twinkle by using iridescent medium (great way to copy the Twinkling H20 effect). After it dried I cut it with a small border around the image. I used Magnolia design paper to create a layout, starting by choosing the spot where I wanted my horse. The little bird and the roses are die-cuts from the same paperblock. As I am memorizing the month, I added quite a lot of journaling to describe my day and how I came to create this page.

December Daily: Intro page & 3rd December

Introductie pagina: wit cardstock, spray inkt (Dylusions), distress inkt, zwarte gesso, stencil (TCW), sequin waste, achtergrond stempels (Hero Arts, Christy Tomlinson), washi tape, journal sticker (Jennibellie), zwarte Posca stift en witte acrylverf voor de rand. Tekst met zwarte Tradio pen, die ik iets langer had moeten laten drogen.

Intro page: white cardstock, spray ink (Dylusions), distress ink, black gesso, stencil (TCW), sequin waste, background stamps (Hero Arts, Christy Tomlinson), washi tape, journal sticker (Jennibellie), black Posca marker and white acrylic paint for the border. Text with black Tradio pen, which I should have let dried a little longer.

3 december: pastel papier, monoprint met blauwe acryl verf en mijn Gelli Arts gel printing plate (ik heb een anzichtkaart met een embossingfolder door de Big Shot gehaald en die kaart in de natte verf gedrukt, er weer vanaf gehaald en daar een afdruk van gemaakt). Geweldig effect! Met mijn vingers een beetje licht groene verf in de hoeken aangebracht. Een stukje geschreven. Daar een rand omheen gemaakt met een credit card en turquoise acryl verf. De randen van de pagina bewerkt met black soot distress inkt op een sponsje. Het chevron patroon gestempeld met distress inkt (jeans?). Van patroon papier een vlaggetje geknipt, die onder de naaimachine door gehaald en daarna met lijm opgeplakt (zodat het stiksel niet op de andere kant van de pagina te zien is). Met mijn Silhouette nummer 3 gesneden en met een cirkelpons een cirkel uit aquarelpapier geponst, waarna ik dat papier met dezelfde inkt heb bewerkt als de chevron stempel. De drie op de cirkel geplakt en dat op de pagina geplakt.

3rd December: pastel paper, monoprint with blue acrylic paints and my Gelli Arts gel printing plate (I ran a postcard through my Big Shot with a embossing folder and pressed that card in the wet paint, then released and pulled the print). Love the effect! Added a few greenish acrylic paint in the corners, using my fingers. Wrote the journaling. Added a border around that by using a credit card and turquoise acrylic paint. Distressed the page borders with black soot distress ink on a dabber. Stamped the chevron with distress ink (jeans?). Cut a banner from dessin paper, ran it through a sewing machine and then adhered it to the page with glue (so the sewing won’t show on the other side of the paper. Used my Silhouette to cut the number 3 and a circle punch to cut the circle out of watercolour paper. Coloured that paper with the same distress ink as used for the arrows. Layered number on circle and adhered it to the page.

December Daily 2013

Dit jaar heb ik voor het eerst besloten een December Daily te maken. De hele maand december, van dag tot dag, op een creatieve manier gedocumenteerd en een album. Ik heb gekozen voor een formaat van vijf bij zeven inch. Gisteren heb ik de voorkant en de basis inhoud in orde gemaakt. Het plan is een album met verschillende technieken: scrapbook, art journal en misschien ook nog een gedeelte junk/smash journal.

This year for the fisrt time I decided to make a December Daily. The whole month of December, day by day, creatively documented in an album. I’ve chosen the size of five by seven inch. Yesterday I made the cover and basic contains. The plan is to make an album with different kind of techniques: scrapbook, art journal and maybe even a little junk/smash journal.

Sammie (mini album)

Afgelopen maandag was mijn beste vriendin jarig. Ik heb speciaal voor haar een mini album gescrapt van haar kat, die nu een jaar is. Papier is van My Minds Eye.

Last monday it was my best friend’s birthday. I’ve scrapped her a mini album about her cat, who is one year old now. Used paper is by My Minds Eye.

Beautiful Fall

Dit mini boekje heb ik pas gemaakt met de super schattige herfst producten van Imaginisce. De meeste foto’s zijn van vorig jaar. De eekhoorn-foto’s heb ik mogen gebruiken van een aardige Amerikaan, Lorcan, die vlak bij het Golden Gate Park woont. Een bezoekje aan zijn fotogallerie is beslist de moeite waard.
Het was leuk weer eens een mini te doen.

This mini booklet I made lately with the super cute fall products by Imaginisce. Most photos are last year’s. The cute squirrel-photos I was allowed to use from a kind American fellow, Lorcan, who lives near the Golden Gate Park. A visit to his photogallery is so much worth it.
It was nice to do a mini again.
