99 Luftballons & Not An Addict – Top 2000 Blog Party

While I thought this was going to be a great year for joining the Top 2000 Blog Party, because this would be the first year I would spend the days around Christmas and New Year’s eve at home. And so I thought I would have all the time to join this creative party, while listening to all those great songs on the radio. Boy, was I wrong about that! Yes, I am home. That part goes very well. The thing I didn’t think of, were all these appointments I had during these weeks. And all the shopping that needed to be done. I had too many plans this year and thus I seem to be rushing from one thing to another. And I’m happy if I can squeeze in some time to actually make art. So, that’s why this blogpost about today’s played songs, is appearing at the end of the day. Sigh. Time goes so fast! Can you believe tomorrow is the last day of 2016 already?

About the songs and art. I managed to make one spread in my art journal. And since we can send in two art pieces a day, I chose a photo I made. I had two artists to choose from, because I photographed at two of today’s played artist’s gigs. Eventually I went for a photo I never published before (it was still waiting to be post processed).

The first layer of the background of my art journal spread was done with a small Gelli plate. I stamped the clouds with a homemade foam stamp for which I also used the Gelli plate. The air balloons are a stamp I carved quite some years ago. I tried to clear emboss them, but every black ink I own, didn’t keep wet long enough, so the embossing only partially worked. Maybe the paper I used was just soaking up the ink too much. I coloured them with watercolour pencils and went over them with a clear Tombow brush pen. I also added some stencilling to the background using a stencil by Carabelle Studio and a piece of punchinella. I used distress ink (peacock feather). I added some background stamping with a Christy Tomlinson stamp and dark blue Archival ink. Finally some scribbles with a regular pencil and the title stamped with different kinds of stamp sets. And of course it didn’t feel finished without some white splattering. I finally found out how to do splattering with my Posca marker!

Miss Montreal

Afgelopen vrijdag ben ik naar een concert van Miss Montreal geweest. Wauw! Wat was ze goed. Eigenlijk moet ik zeggen, wat waren ze goed, want ook de band speelde fantastisch! Ze zong vooral liedjes van haar nieuwe album “Irrational”, maar een nummer als “I Am Hunter” mocht natuurlijk ook niet ontbreken. Ik vond het ook bijzonder leuk hoe ze contact met het publiek zocht en de grappige verhalen waarmee ze de liedjes vlot aan elkaar babbelde.

Wat is ze mooi hè? En wat zong ze prachtig gisteren met het Residentie Orkest. Een uniek concert, want slechts eenmalig. De zaal zat dan ook helemaal vol. Net als het podium trouwens. Goed initiatief van het Residentie Orkest, wat geweldig speelde. Zoveel talent op één podium. Blij dat ik erbij mocht zijn.

Isn’t she pretty? And how beautiful she sang her songs yesterday together with the The Hague Philharmonic. A unique concert, because it was just for one time. The house was full. Just like the stage as a matter of fact. Good initiative by the Residence Orchestra, that played very well. So much talent on one stage. Happy I could be there.

Beth Hart

Het is alweer een jaar geleden dat ik bij een concert van Beth Hart mocht zijn. Opnieuw had ik toestemming van Paard van Troje om foto’s te maken. Het was er tot nu toe alleen nog niet van gekomen om ze daadwerkelijk ook de juiste aandacht te geven. Op de blog van Marit’s Paper World is weer de Top 2000 Blog Party. Dit jaar staat Beth Hart voor het eerst in deze top 2000. Nu kon ik niet langer een excuus bedenken. Deze foto heb ik ingestuurd.

It’s been one year already since I had the pleasure to be at a concert by Beth Hart. Again Paard Van Troje allowed me to take photos. However I was never really  able to give these photos the proper attention until now. At Marit’s Paper World there is another Top 2000 Blog Party. This year for the first time Beth Hart is in this Top 2000. Now I couldn’t think of any other excuses. I sent this photo.

Sinéad O’Connor (live photos)

Tijdens Parkpop (29 juni) kreeg ik de kans om foto’s te maken van één van mijn allergrootste idolen. Man wat heb ik genoten! Het optreden van Sinéad en haar band was fantastisch. Naar mijn mening zingt ze beter dan ooit. Ja, ik ben fan! En hierbij presenteer ik met trots de foto’s.

At Parkpop (29th June) I got the chance to take photos of one of my biggest idols. Man did I enjoy this! The performance by Sinéad and her band was splendid! In my opinion she sings better than ever. Yes, I am a fan! And hereby I proudly present the pictures.

Beth Hart (8 december 2011)

Ola! Het is echt veel te lang geleden dat ik iets gepost heb. En dat terwijl ik zo’n gave foto-reportage voor jullie had. 8 december ben ik naar het concert van Beth Hart geweest in ‘t PAARD. Het was zo onwijs gaaf. Ik stond/zat helemaal tegen het podium geplakt en kreeg zelfs een persoonlijke groet van Beth. De foto’s mocht ik maken met toestemming van ‘t PAARD, waarvoor hartelijk dank.

Ola! It’s been way too long since I posted something. And I even had such a cool photoshoot for you. December 8 I’ve been to a gig of Beth Hart. It was so incredibly cool. I was right in front of the stage and Beth said “hi” to me. The photos were made with the permission of ‘t PAARD, for which I say great thanks.
